Computergestützte Volumetrie von CT-Daten bei Patienten mit konservativer Therapie einer Aortendissektion Typ B nach Stanford

Computer assisted volumetry of CT data in patients with medically treated Stanford type B dissection Purpose: The purpose of this study was to document an increase in volume of the false and true lumen of the aorta in patients with medically treated Stanford type B dissection. Afterwards there was a comparison with the method of diameter measurement. Materials and Methods: Fourteen patients with medically treated aortic dissection type B underwent controls by computed tomography in variable intervals to look for changes in aortal structure (enlargement of the aortic diameter / thrombosed false lumen). These CT-series were processed with a special program named OSIRIS which calculates the volume of the true and the false Lumen of the aortic dissection that have been marked manually in a CT-image. Results: In case of eleven patients the volume of true and false lumen increased. Conclusion: Volumetry is an exact method to demonstrate an increasement in the lumen of aortic dissection. Three-dimensional images give an idea of the aortal expansion.
