"Who wants to be a millionaire?" is a well known TV-Quiz. The popularity of this inquiry-response-game is worth consideration trying to transfer the attractiveness of the game features to an e-learning program with the intention to enhance the motivation of dealing with learning contents. A web application including game elements was developed. This application illustrates factual knowledge of medical education and integrates user adapted questions scales. To analyze game mode effects, an additional mode was implemented, that presents the same questions in a sequentially way. The users were allowed using both modes according to their individual requests. During winter semester 2010/2011 the activities of 560 users of the Medical faculty of the University of Ulm were collected within 90 000 interactions. The data were analyzed on the general use of the application and the prediction of the question difficulty by the authors. The main focus was on differences between the game mode and the sequential mode concerning the preferences of the users, the time to answer the questions and the correctness of the answers. The findings showed that the e-learning program was especially well accepted as preparation for exams. The game mode was preferred particularly for short training units as an attractive offer beside the regular lectures.
