The possible genotoxic effects of 17 insecticides and pesticides and four combinations were detected in human lymphocytes by the alkaline microgel electrophoresis assay ("comet assay"). We found a higher genotoxic effect by using the combinations DEET-Pyridostigminbromid, DEET-Permethrin, Permethrin-Pyridostigminbromid and DEET-Pyridostigminbromid-Permethrin.
The combination DEET-Pyridostigminbromid-Permethrin first appeared at the gulf war. DEET was used as insect reppellent, Permethrin to the protection of the uniform against vectors and Pyridostigminbromid as a nerve agent prophylactic.
