Charakterisierung einer neuen Isoform des humanen Transkriptionsfaktors Lef-1 in der Genese des Pankreaskarzinomes
LicenseStandard (Fassung vom 03.05.2003)
The pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is - after the colon- and gastric-carcinoma - the third-prevalent cancer disease of the gastro-intestinal tract with an incidence of 10/100000 per year. Due to precocious invasion and metastasis the diagnosis is only possible in late stages of the disease accompanied by a median survival of 4-6 month. Up to now, surgery is the only known curative therapy but this is just practicable in 10-15% with a 5 years survival of 25% maximum. It is a fact that the Lef/Tcf-transcription-factors as down-stream effectors of the canonical Wnt-signaling are involved in the pathogenesis of this cancer. In the present investigation we examined the role of a new Lef-1 isoform in the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer.
