Funktionalisierte fluoreszierende und magnetische Polymernanopartikel für biomedizinische Anwendungen

Fluorescent and magnetic polymer nanoparticles dispersed in water were synthesized via a miniemulsion polymerization process. Fluorescence was achieved by embedding an oil-soluble fluorescent dye, by homogeneous encapsulation of high amounts of magnetite nanoparticles of different sizes, the polymer nanoparticles became superparamagnetic. Different polymers were used: polystyrene nanoparticles were synthesized by radical miniemulsion polymerization, polyurethane and epoxy resin particles were obtained through miniemulsion polyaddition. Copolymerization of styrene with different functional monomers led to surface functionalized polystyrene particles which were further modified by covalent coupling of amino acids and other biomolecules. The obtained polymer nanoparticles were examined in cell experiments to gather information on the dependance of cellular uptake on surface functionalization.
