AbstractInteraction with computers has increased greatly due to the availability of small, low-cost, and easy-to-use computers. Users have individual preferences and everyday routines that take place in different environments. While you can turn away from your tasks for a period of time when in the living room or office to interact with a mobile device, that interaction poses a safety risk within an automotive environment. The input and output devices that are potentially more suitable within the in-car environment are often not used due to missing integration possibilities. This reinforces the separation between the closed environment of the computer that is brought into the car and the actual in-car interaction environment. This is not only inconvenient and distracting, but also safety-critical. For the work presented here, this is the starting point for further development of the vision of a customized use of computer applications in any context. Existing approaches use modeling to abstract from specific interactions, so that solutions can be derived for multiple environments. The resulting user interfaces (UI), however, are often not satisfactory and only partially automatically generated. The presented approach combines the relevant model types domain, dialog and presentation model, into an abstract interaction model and introduces rules for the description of UI elements of the system that is used for integration of the model. This provides the foundation for guaranteed, fully automated transformations created in a target system. The integration of exemplary applications into the automotive interaction space has been successfully demonstrated in a prototype. The results were evaluated according to the requirements, and the possibilities and limitations of the approach were analyzed. The contributions of this work support closing the gap between application and interaction context, which is created when integrating unknown applications into existing UIs.dc.description.abstract
