Abstract
The Oppel-Kundt illusion is interpreted on the basis of size constancy. From a conceptual model an algebraic function is derived and fitted to data obtained from experiments performed by other authors. Values for the size constancy parameter are obtained. The Oppel-Kundt experiment is compared with the checkerboard illusion, where the apparent size of a square depends on the space frequency of the texture.
