Gelsolin im Liquor bei Multipler Sklerose
Mezler-Andelberg, Michaela Andrea
Gelsolin is an actin-binding protein with multiple functions. It has already been associated with Multiple Sclerosis for several years. In this work we hypothesized that the three subtypes of Multiple Sclerosis show a difference in their Gelsolin concentration. For the first time we measured the concentration of Gelsolin in serum and cerebrospinal fluid of patients with RRMS (Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis), SPMS (Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis) and PPMS (Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis) in comparison to two control groups. Protein concentrations were determined by ELISA (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay).
