Systematic evaluation of the "efficacy-effectiveness gap" in the treatment of depression with Venlafaxine and Duloxetine (protocol)
There is broad consensus that a gap exists between the "efficacy" of a drug, proven in a randomized controlled trial, and the "effectiveness" of this drug in everyday clinical practice. This consensus is based on anecdotes and observations, and has not been evaluated systematically. This is a protocol or a systematic review of non-randomized and uncontrolled trials examining the effectiveness of venlafaxine and duloxetine in the treatment of depression. This data will be analysed in comparison with the efficacy data from a previous review, aiming to identify experimental factors influencing the effect size.
