Amperometric microbiosensors are an attractive tool for monitoring adenosine triphosphate (ATP) due to their inherent spatial and temporal resolution. Within this thesis new concepts for ATP microbiosensors were developed and established and ATP microbiosensors were applied for physiological measurements. Their performance under physiological conditions was investigated in respect to their influence on the biological sample and in respect to observed current changes in bathing solutions.
