AbstractBoth, the introduction of DRGs in Germany in 2004 and the trend of demographic ageing resulted in a rising health care utilization in rehabilitation. Today’s compensation scheme of per diem charges is not able to balance the additional budget burden. Therefore this work focuses on the feasibility and microeconomic effects of a performance and success based way of compensation between rehab hospitals and health payers by linking the demand for medical effort and the jointly agreed targets of rehabilitation.dc.description.abstract
