Entwicklung und Evaluierung eines aktenbasierten Screening-Instruments Sadismus assoziierter Merkmale (ASISAM)
LizenzStandard (Fassung vom 01.10.2008)
In the scientific community, there is no general agreement on criteria for the diagnosis of sexual sadism in a forensic setting. Hence, data on the prevalence of sadistic offenders and reoffence rates might be unsystematically flawed. Based on the Sexual Sadism Scale published by William Marshall and Steve Hucker in 2006, the author developed a file-based nine-item screening scale for sadism associated features (ASISAM). The purpose of this study was to define criteria more precisely, and to develop a psychometric instrument suitable for research and practice. The author analysed case files of N=134 offenders who were assigned to the Austrian Federal Evaluation Centre for Violent and Sexual Offenders for expert assessment. This work presents the results on reliability and (predictive) validity of the scale and, from the resulting data-base, the author extracted three largely independent factors which might help differentiating the construct of sadism in a forensic setting.
