AbstractOn the first pages of the dissertation the theoretical and experimental background for the work is described. The experiments and the results are divided in three different parts. The first chapter is dealing with the Cu-deposition on Ru(0001) single crystals and on Ruthenium coated Si-wafers. The experiments show the influence of different additives (e.g. from the classical Damascen-process) on the deposition. To get information about the time dependence of the reaction CVs were made. The structures of deposited Cu were investigated by in-situ STM. From potential-jump-experiments informations about the kinetic performance were obtained. How to create areas of clusters on a reconstructed Au(111) surface is the topic of the second chapter. In this experiments a small amount of Pd was deposited on a reconstructed Au(111) surface. The elbows of the reconstruction were used as starting points for the metal deposition. The third chapter shows, how it is possible to create long-range nanopattering of Au(111) through potential cycling in aqueous acidic media. During the experiments the gold surface was periodically oxidized and reduced in an in-situ STM cell. The images of the surface during the experiments show the influence of the lower and upper potential, the oxidation time and the nature of the solvent.dc.description.abstract
