AbstractThe PhD thesis is divided into two larger parts. The first part handles about the synthesis of different oligomeric N-heterocycles. Hereby the focus is on pyridine containing systems. In doing so mainly compounds are synthesized which belong to the compound class of bis(ter)pyridines or septipyridines using the Kröhnke pyridine synthesis in the final step of the synthesis. The second part contains the investigation of the synthesized compounds for their ability to self assemble onto a graphite surface. Therefore solutions of the molecules are prepared onto a HOPG (Highly Ordered Pyrolytic Graphite) surface and investigated with a STM (scanning tunneling microscope). Because of different oriented CH---N hydrogen bonds between neighbouring molecules different patterns are formed. These patterns also can differ depending on the solvent or its concentration.dc.description.abstract
