When taking pictures with a camera, one usually zooms in or zooms out, depending on the situation, whether one is aiming for a narrow or wide field of view, respectively. The question is investigated whether zooming was, and still is, common practice to painters and drawers as well. It is shown that, on paintings and etchings, the angle of view can vary within a wide range, comparable to photos taken with a wide angle or a telephoto lens.
