Nowadays, the World Wide Web (WWW) is an essential part of everyone’s daily life. The amount of information and services that one obtains from "the web" is growing each day, and the emerging web technologies made today’s web applications become indistinctable from traditional desktop applications. Web applications nowadays are richer than they ever were before - they are Rich Internet Appications (RIAs). However, rich internet applications may remain inaccessible for people with either physical or cognitive disabilities. The present thesis covers topics on Accessibility and Rich Internet Applications. It presents a framework which provides a mechanism for retrieving HTML versions automatically from a static RIA. Furthermore, the thesis presents two design patterns which allow dynamic RIAs to personalize their User Interface according to privileges and runtime statuses.
