AbstractHeat shock proteins are highly conserved chaperones and are therefore receiving a lot of interest from latest carcinoma research. Expression of heat shock proteins in pancreatic carcinoma cells is being looked at on protein level by Western Blot Analysis and Dual immune-fluorescence staining, on DNA promoter level by Luciferase Assays and on RNA level by Northern Blot Analysis. Main emphasis has been put on heat shock protein 70 as one member of the heat shock protein family. Besides possible ways of induction it is also interesting how induction is being influenced by intra cellular and extra cellular modulators. Summarized this work shows parts of a possible network of growth-promoting molecules like Ras and potentially protective mechanisms like heat shock proteins in pancreatic carcinoma cells. Transcription factor NF-kappaB seems to have a pivotal modulating function in this network.dc.description.abstract
