AbstractIonic liquids comprise a substance group with interesting properties. Although theoretically a wide range of possible cations for ionic liquids formation exists, for most investigations and applications imidazolium cations are used. The ambition of this work was the synthesis of guanidinium-based ionic liquids and their complete characterization. All N,N’,N’’-peralkylated guanidinium salts were characterized by NMR, IR, DSC, and TGA. For some salts viscosity, refractive index, miscibility with organic solvents and polarity respectively polarizability were measured using two solvatochromic dyes.dc.description.abstract
